OCTOBER EVENTS AT THE CALVERT MARINE MUSEUM

Fall is in the air and it’s the perfect time to visit the Calvert Marine Museum. There are activities and programs for all members of the family. For a complete listing of events, visit the website at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com.

Tuesday, October 7 and Thursday, October 9 – Sea Squirts
10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Signs of Animals - Look for the signs animals leave behind. Tracks, scat, holes, and food remains are just a few clues we can piece together to figure out what animals live here. Join us for games, stories, and a walk outside. Free drop-in program for toddlers 18 months to three years and their caregivers.

Saturday, October 11 – River to Bay: Reflections and Connections
Don’t miss the grand opening of our new estuarine biology exhibit River to Bay: Reflections and Connections. The new 14 aquarium exhibit will be an immersive experience introducing guests to the amazing diversity of animal life found in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. The exhibit highlights three unique bay habitats: the deep, open waters, the brackish coastal shallows, and freshwaters of the coastal plains. Visitors can explore how bay creatures are connected to their surroundings, to each other, and to humans.

Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12 - Patuxent River Appreciation Days (PRAD): Enjoy free boat rides, toy boat building, juried arts and crafts show, great food, live music on two stages, local wine tasting, environmental groups, and many activities for children and their families all weekend from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Parade is on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Visit the website at www.pradinc.org for complete details. The museum is open and free to public.

Friday, October 17 - Dino Days to celebrate National Fossil Day!
Be a paleontologist for the day, dig for dinosaur bones in the Discovery Room sand box and go on a scavenger hunt filled with fun dinosaur facts that ends with you cracking a dinosaur egg.
