JUNE EVENTS AT THE CALVERT MARINE MUSEUM

Thursday, June 1 – Ralph Eshelman Lecture
7 p.m. Ralph Eshelman will present “Creepy Creatures and Sea Monsters: Fact and Fiction” in the Harms Gallery. FREE lecture.
Friday, June 2 – First FREE Friday
5 p.m. – 8 p.m. The museum is open and FREE to the public with docents in every gallery. Enjoy 30-minute cruises on the Tennison. Entertainment is provided by Some Assembly starting at 6 p.m. in the Harms Gallery. The Drum Point Lighthouse and the Museum Store are open.
Tuesday, June 6, Thursday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 14 – Sea Squirts
10 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Mommas and Babies of the Bay. FREE drop-in program for children 18-months to three years and their caregivers.
Tuesday, June 13 - Road Scholar Summer Music Series – Janie Meneely & Rob van Sante
7 p.m. – 9 p.m. The duo join forces for an evening of maritime music from the Chesapeake Bay and beyond. Rob’s virtuoso guitar accompanies an array of Janie’s bay-spun originals, while Meneely adds vocal harmonies to his traditional ballads. Well known in chantey circles, Janie has been singing about Chesapeake people, places, and history for years. Dutch-born van Sante is a guitarist of skill and subtlety, who recently toured with The Battlefield Band, a Scottish group steeped in traditional music. Tickets are $10, cash or check at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. with beer and wine for sale.
Saturday, June 17 – Fossil Field Experience
9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Come explore the fossils of Calvert Cliffs with a trained museum educator. For ages 8 and up. Cost is $20 and includes museum admission. Space is limited; preregistration required. Call 410-326-2042, ext. 41 to register.
Saturday, June 17 - Sunset Supper History Cruise
5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Coby Treadway, museum educator-historian, will talk you through time along the Patuxent River, highlighting events that range from paleo-Indians to World War II. Enjoy a 90-minute narrated cruise aboard the Wm. B. Tennison followed by a light supper provided by No Thyme To Cook in the 3rd floor lounge. Learn more about our fascinating local history. Sunday, June 18 – Father’s Day Brunch Cruise

Tuesday, June 20 – The museum closes at 12 noon for the Tri-County Job Fair. The Job Fair is open to the public.
Wednesday, June 21 – Calvert County and the Opiod Epidemic
6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Join us in the Harms Gallery for a Community Conversation about the Opioid epidemic in Calvert County. The evening’s program includes discussions and training on signs and symptoms of Opioid abuse, emerging drug trends, substance abuse and the family, and Naloxone training. Sponsored by the Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse, Inc. (CAASA), Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, and Calvert County Behavioral Health Services.
Thursday, June 22 – Little Minnows
10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Go Green – Recycle! For children ages 3 to 5 years. Members are FREE;
$5 for non-members.
Saturday, June 24 – Dee of St. Mary’s Public Sail
2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Sail on the Dee of St. Mary’s leaving from the museum dock. Fee is $25 for ages 13 and up, $15 for children 5 – 12. No children under 5 please. Preregistration required, call 410-326-2042 ext. 41 to register.
Saturday, June 24 – Build a Toy Boat
2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Make a toy boat in the Maritime History Hall with sessions starting on the half hour. $2 donation requested. Museum admission required.
Wednesday, June 28 – Steve Miller Band and Peter Frampton in Concert
7 p.m. The Waterside Music Series presents Steve Miller Band and Peter Frampton live at the PNC Waterside Pavilion. Tickets are $45 - $89 and available now at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com or by calling 1-800-787-9454. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with food and beverage vendors on site. The museum closes at 3 p.m. for concert preparation.
Friday, June 30 – The Museum Store is closed today for inventory.
The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $9.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, military with valid I.D. and AAA members, and $4.00 for children ages 5 - 12; children under 5 and museum members are always admitted free.
